CALL FOR POSTERS IS OPEN. Please go to Useful Information section to submit your abstract. The “III International Workshop on Analytical Miniaturization and NANOtechnologies (WAM-NANO2012)” will be hosted in Barcelona (Spain) on 11 and 12 June 2012. It will cover the latest international developments in the use of nanotechnologies and nanomaterials for the design and applications of lab-on-a-chip (LOC) systems and other miniaturised analytical (bio)systems. Nanotechnology is among the most fascinating and challenging fields of research and development. It is highly multidisciplinary, involving research from all scientific and engineering disciplines. As such, it is providing major support to analytical miniaturisation. The convergence of knowledge in materials, photonics, electronics, biology and medicine in nanotechnology, together with technology- and application-driven approaches of interest for analytical applications, are enabling great opportunities for innovation. The major focus in this context will be analytical (bio)systems for clinical, food safety and security applications, in which nanotechnology enables novel devices and systems that provide the basis for better, more accessible healthcare, safety and security, with improved quality of life for the public. This workshop (and a special issue of the journal Lab-on-a-Chip, entitled “Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials in lab-on-a-chip”) will report the most important achievements in analytical miniaturisation, where nanotechnology is positioned to enable great advances.
