The ICN and LEITAT Technological Centre have been jointly granted €1.5 M to establish a new Centre for NanoBioSafety and Sustainability (CNBSS)

Objectives:
The research and development of new tools for the management of the risks associated with Nanotechnology, in order to improve safety and sustainable implementation at an industrial level, and to reduce unwarranted perceptions of hazard.

The four main research lines are:

  • Nanotoxicity (doses, formulations, initial and long term secondary effects),
  • Nanosustainability (green chemistry, environmental recovery, energy efficiency, clean energy production, water and air purification),
  • Nanometrology (accurate measurement of content, presence and nanometric phase state of any product)
  • Industrial Watchdog (labour security, good practices, communication and information).
